In 2021, companies have learnt that they can digitally transform much more rapidly than they may have thought. ‘Surviving’ was the keyword in 2020 and thankfully now it’s more evident we are ‘thriving’.
Acceleration for change has led to innovations. Comfort in technology is growing for non-technical companies and tech giants are making bigger leaps. With these in mind, we want to present the top digital trends for 2022.
1- Generative Artificial Intelligence
This comes at top of Gartner\’s trend list of strategic technology trends that organizations need to explore in 2022. We agree that it has earned its rightful place.
Generative AI is a program that helps computers learn the underlying patterns related to input, and then use that to generate content that is similar to the input.
There are already many interesting use-cases related to Generative AI, like face aging, photos to emojis conversion, image-to-image conversion and text-to-image conversion.
Gartner describes it as machine learning methods that learn about content or objects from their data. This data is then used to generate brand-new, completely original, realistic artifacts.
Generative AI applications have proven useful in the field of pharmaceutical development, medical research and software development too. However, we must also be cautious about the potential misuse in the form of scams, frauds and political disinformation.
The Data Science Team at M.M. already had their sights on this technology for quite some time. We are working on how to generate the cool AI we always saw in science fiction movies!
2- Hyper Automation
This is another important area that M.M. believes is poised to be amongst the top and hottest trends in 2022. Gartner states, “Hyperautomation is a business-driven, disciplined approach that organizations use to rapidly identify, vet and automate as many business and IT processes as possible”.
In other words, it is a concept that is built on the fact that the synergy of multiple tools, technologies and platforms can be used to leverage phenomenal business outcomes.
M.M.’s flagship product Autosphere is already liberating organizations from many monotonous tasks. Alongside this, the AI and Data Science team are partnering with the Autosphere team to create a multitude of powerful technology offerings under the banner of, “Intelligent Automation”.
3- Cloud-Native Platforms
When we say Cloud-Native Platforms is another technology that makes it to our list, you might think it’s already being adopted by everyone.
To give you perspective, Gartner predicts that cloud-native platforms will serve as the foundation for more than 95% of new digital initiatives by 2025 – up from less than 40% in 2021.
Many people consider it as the modern way of developing software. It is an approach that leverages the flexibility, scalability and resilience of cloud computing to not only build but run software systems.
Another way of understanding the concept is to look at it as something that takes advantage of distributed computing offered by the cloud delivery model. According to Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), “Cloud native technologies empower organizations to build and run scalable applications in public, private and hybrid clouds.”
4. Total Experience (TX)
Total Experience (TX) sounds more like a fancy design buzzword, in reality, this is something that is quickly becoming the essence for businesses, especially ones facing a cutthroat competitive landscape and threats of disruption.
If you think this is something related to customer experience – then you are right and wrong.
This is a much broader concept that includes the discipline of Customer Experience (CX), Employee Experience (EX), Multi Experience and User Experience. So basically, it’s not a mere sum or consolidation of these aforementioned experiences but rather a strategy to see a complete company experience. The perspectives of the customer, employee and the user are all combined.
According to Ring Central, “Creating a cohesive Total Experience is important because it reduces the drag, cost, and redundancy of serving both internal and external groups, unleashing improvements company-wide. But while unified strategies and workflows play into creating a Total Experience, the entire concept of TX hinges upon underlying technologies—with unified communications tech at the forefront”.
Gartner has also put TX on their Top Strategic Technology Trends for 2022. It is anticipated as something that will drive significant technology trends and opportunities over the next 5 to 10 years.
The Digital Transformation team at M.M. has been advocating how the overall picture is crucial for a meaningful and value-driven transformation journey. It is not enough to just put the compass on Customer Experience (CX).
5- Data Fabric
When we hear the word Data, automatically analytics comes into our mind. We think of how enterprises can benefit from the ‘oil of today’. What is missed out on is the simple fact that not all data is for consumption by everyone within an enterprise.
The point should be to connect the right data to the right people. A simple way to think about this is how social media accounts suggest who the most relevant people for us to follow. Without this, we would be lost with information overload.
Data fabric is a data management architecture that can optimize access to distributed data and intelligently curate and orchestrate it for self-service delivery to data consumers. With a data fabric, you can elevate the value of your enterprise data by providing users access to the right data just in time, regardless of where it is stored”.
Gartner has outlined this amongst their Top Strategic Technology Trends for 2022, while M.M. believes it ought to be amongst the top 5 trends for the next year. The Data Analytics team at M.M assessed that the prime reason for this is that many executives now understand the value of data. The problem is the inability to fully utilize it due to integration complexities and enterprises that are inhibited by data silos.
Conclusion
To be ahead of the tech game in 2022, it is definitely worth considering trends that will impact your enterprise the most. For organizations to be proactive, ready for challenges and able to thrive, technology needs to be at the forefront of planning and execution.
Each organization will use its most important areas of development and select the trends that are most relevant. Whatever makes your list, we wish you a productive year in 2022!
